Dream Night 2018
This year, Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium’s annual Dream Night was held on June 8, 2018 and hosted a record-setting 850 people.
Now in its ninth year, Dream Night was created for children who can’t be exposed to large crowds due to a weakened immune system, who need special care that limits their ability to leave home or a treatment facility, or who have a disability or medical condition that makes outings difficult.
For the fifth year in a row, Dream Night was generously sponsored by Lockton Companies, based in Kansas City and Omaha, and many Lockton employees donated their time as volunteers for the evening as well. In addition to being able to enjoy zoo favorites including the Lied Jungle, the Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium, the Desert Dome and the African Grasslands, guests rode the train (always a hit!), could get their faces painted and were offered balloon animals by clowns.
“It’s always so rewarding to hear from the families about what Dream Night means to them,” says Kelsie Sis-Davis, corporate and foundation manager at the Omaha Zoo Foundation. “Over and over again, they say how special it is to have a night set aside where they can just be together and have fun as a family.”
